July 4th, 2010

We decided to hang out at home on the 4th of July this year. My family came over for a BBQ and then we did fireworks when it started to get dark. Braden was cute and had planned out when we were going to light each firework and when we could do the sparklers.
Mylie was not a fan of the loud noises and made sure that her Papa was holding on to her tight.
Bob and Braden picked out some pretty good ones this year. A few we always get and a few new ones to try.
Braden also thought he was in charge of firework placement. He'd set them up and then run back to let Bob light them.

We had a few neighbors in the subdivision behind us, letting off some really big fireworks. So when it got really dark, we went inside the house and watched them from my parent's bedroom window. Almost better than fighting the crowds downtown to see the city ones.

Happy 4th!

Just a quick post to say Happy 4th of July!!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

We are currently preparing for church and will head there in about an hour. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a yummy BBQ with family. Then Bob and Braden are going to make us some homemade ice cream to enjoy before we watch our fireworks tonight.

Our flag is up and flying! Is yours???

4th BBQ & Fireworks

On the 4th we had a BBQ with Dan and Michaela at their house.
Dad came, but Mom was home sick with a tummy ache - get better Mom! Kayla's parents were also there and brought Kayla's cousin, his wife, and their 4 kids. There was a lot of food, talking, laughing, and fun! We had hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, watermelon, corn on the cob, baked beans, chips and dips (of all kinds!), soda, blue koolaid, strawberry italian sodas, cupcakes and rice krispy treats. Kayla's cousin brought this fun game that the kids played with.

Here is my cute cupcake stand full of cherry chip cupcakes. They had cream cheese frosting and red white and blue sprinkles. Yum!

After the BBQ, Dad and Kayla's parents and cousin's family headed home. We hung out for a little bit and then went over to Settler's park to hang out until the fireworks started. We sat around taking pictures of each other and our kids and talked. The fireworks started just before 10:30pm and were amazing! We were so glad that we went. We were able to find some pretty close parking and had no trouble getting out of the lot and through traffic getting home.

Happy 4th of July!

or as Braden says "Firework Day!"

We went over to my parent's house last night to light some fun fireworks that they bought. Our plan was to avoid buying fireworks this year and to just to watch some big ones somewhere, but someone decided that the kids needed to watch the little fireworks being set off too - so we did that a night early. On the way there we dug up some change and stopped at a firework stand and purchased 1 "Cricket" firework to add to what my parents picked up. After the fireworks, we watched Confessions of a Shopaholic that we picked up from a RedBox.

This morning we got up and went to see the parade in Downtown Boise. We were able to park in the parking lot behind the building where my mom works and only had to walk a block to the parade route. And we got there just in time to see the beginning of the parade. It was great and the kids really enjoyed it. We forgot to take the camera...

Right now, Braden and Bob are at the cheap theater watching Race To Witch Mountain and I'm supposed to be working. Mylie just went down for a nap. Tonight, we'll head over to Dan & Kayla's for a fun BBQ with my parent's, Kayla's parents, and Kayla's cousin and his family. Afterward, our plan is to head over to Storey Park to watch the fireworks.

Today I am grateful for this wonderful country we have to live in, for the freedoms that we enjoy and for the troops that help to protect those freedoms. God Bless the USA!
