Thanksgiving 2009

Thursday:

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year as always.

We did something different this year and combined some of each of our families and had Thanksgiving together at our house. Those that attended were: Mom Irish, Steph and Shane R. (& kids), Mom and Dad Johnson, and Nikki and Steven. We were able to fit all of the adults up to our dinner table. Three of the bigger kids sat at a card table and Mylie and Violet sat at a little card table. Everyone pitched in with the food and there wasn't a spare spot on the table during dinner! It was wonderful!
I found an idea online and made place cards that had a pilgrim on the left and on the top they said" We're Thankful for:" and then Bob hand wrote all the names underneath. They turned out very cute! We also placed five kernels of (candy) corn on each plate and read a little story to go along with them before dinner began.
After dinner, we talked, looked at the Black Friday ads and played Wii games. At about 5:30, Trevor and Jennifer's family came to join us for PIE! Bob's mom made 3, blueberry, apple, and pumpkin. Stephanie made a Turtle Cheesecake and I made a frozen chocolate/oreo pudding pie. After pie, we hung out, played a few games and chatted until everyone left at about 9:30. It was a long, but wonderful day.

Saturday:

After picking up Braden in the morning we took him to Mom Irish's house for some Christmas crafting fun with his cousins. We dropped him off at the door and headed to Toys R Us where we found the one last thing we needed for Braden for Christmas. We also found a gift for Mylie's birthday (6 months away) only because we're done with buying her Christmas gifts. We got the Rose Petal Cottage for $15! Perfect to go with her Christmas gifts. (pay no attention to the prices listed on Amazon...)

We stopped at Walmart to grab a few things and check another Christmas gift off the list. Yea! Then back to Mom Irish's for a yummy lunch and to pick up Braden. We dropped Bob off at home to get some schoolwork done (bummer!) and headed to Lynae and Jerry's house to ride their horses for Savanah's birthday. At first, Braden didn't want to ride, but saw the fun that Savanah was having and decided to give it a try. He hopped on a horse with Papa for a bit, but then wanted to ride alone (with someone guiding the horse) and LOVED it! Everyone (except for me and Mom) took a turn - even Mylie and Jayden got to ride. We took a lot of pictures with Mom's camera, so hopefully I'll be able to get them soon to share with everyone. After everyone had ridden, Cole and Katie got up on the horses and showed us that the horses knew how to do more than just walk around slowly. We really enjoyed watching them have fun with the horses.

We headed back home to pick up Bob and then went to Mom and Dads' house for our Thanksgiving FONDUE feast. We had a yummy cheese fondue and some fun appetizers that Nikki made. After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Savanah and she got to open her gifts. For dessert, we had chocolate fondue AND birthday cake AND Pie! Crazy-ness!

Bob and I left the kids there (thanks again Mom and Dad!) just after 7pm and headed to the Theater to see New Moon with Jennifer, Mom Irish and Steph R. We LOVED it! As we were leaving we noticed a movie poster for Eclipse with a release date of June 30, 2010 on it.

Thanks for a great weekend!

Thanksgiving was wonderful! I loved having my hubby home for 2 1/2 extra days - he is amazing at helping me get things done around the house and I really appreciate that these days.

On Wednesday night, we rented Fred Claus and took it over to my parent's house to watch it.

Thursday was Thanksgiving with the Irish family. We arrived at Steph & Shane's house around 12:30 and had Thanksgiving dinner shortly after 1pm. We got to take mashed potatoes, red ice cubes (frozen Cran-Rasp juice), and a couple of yummy Chex mixes. Scott was able to come for the day and Trevor & family were able to be in town the whole long weekend. Mom Irish brought Uncle Eric and we had a great time visiting with everyone. Braden loved playing with his cousins.
Just before 6pm, we went to the theater to see the newest Disney movie, Bolt. It was a way cute story and Braden exclamed at the end: "that was AWESOME!" Afterward, we went to have pie and ice cream at Mom Irish's apartment.

Friday was a crazy but fun day. We slept in a bit and puttered around. At 10am, I decided to brave the crowds and head out to JoAnn's Black Friday sale. They had an incredible price on snuggly flannel - and I love to mak receiving blankets with it, so I had to grab a few (or more...) pieces. Then I met the girls for lunch at WhiteWater Pizza & Pasta where STEPHANIE treated me to a very yummy salad and sandwich. Thank you!!! It was great and fun! Bob was great to stay home with the kids and started unpacking the Christmas decorations and set up the Tree. We finished decorating that evening just in time to go to Savanah's birthday party at 7pm. We stayed for a few hours and then came home to watch Journey to the Center of the Earth. It was a pretty good movie.

Saturday was the Johnson Thanksgving, hosted at our house. I started cooking and Bob started cleaning - until dinner at 2pm. We were in charge of mahed potatoes (again - yum!), stuffing, corn, and gravy. We ate, hung out, watched some football games and chatted. At 5ish, we had TONS of pie! Go MOM Go! She made them all and they were yummy! Then at 7pm Mom, Stephanie and I met up with Jennifer and Steph R - to go see Twilight. It was a great movie and I think I'll convince Bob to go see it with me - so I can see it again and he can see what the craze is all about. I can't wait for the movie for the next book - I hope they're working on it. And Jennifer treated me to the movie as a late birthday gift - so Thanks Again Jennifer! You're great!

Tomorow, Sunday (well, actually, that's today already...) will be another crazy day. A Mision Farewell to go to for my cousin Rebecca, home for a few church meetings - tithing settlement, home teachers, and hopefully some temple recommend interviews.
