Bunny Bread

We got the idea for the bunny bread HERE.  The kids thought this was pretty fun, though this bunny was cooked a little too long and got a bit dark.  Luckily we had more dough to make another not-so-dark one to serve for Easter dinner.  We'll be enjoying this one tonight dipped in fondue :)

Easter Outfits and Baskets

Braden didn't get a new Easter Outfit this year because he has an abundance of Church clothes right now and since they're only usually worn once a week - I thought it was unnecessary.  The Easter Bunny brought a new summer outfit (shirt & shorts), the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie (he just finished reading all 5 books!), a shovel for outside and some yummy candy.
This isn't a great pic of Mylie's Easter outfit, but it's a cute polka-dotted dress from Costco and a white sweater from Gymboree.  It is absolutely adorable on her!  The Easter Bunny brought her a summer outfit (jeans & t-shirt), the new Tangled movie, a rake and shovel for outside and some candy.
Clark's Easter outfit was purchased by my sister, Stephanie, for my baby-shower and it fits him perfectly now.  He's so grown up.  Clark got a new summer outfit (shirt & shorts) and a cute pot & pan playset.

Happy Easter!

I also have to mention, that while these pics were taken Sunday after church - at our house - the Easter Bunny comes on Saturday morning.  This way the kids can enjoy their new things on the day they get them and focus on Christ on Easter Sunday.

Coloring Eggs

The eggs!

Braden and I found a tye-dye egg coloring kit at a thrift store this year, but it was pretty time consuming, so he and Mylie each only did 2-3 eggs that way.  The rest were plain-old solid colors.  They had a great time though, Mylie especially because she didn't remember doing it last year.

Easter 2011

This year we decided to do Easter at our NEW HOUSE.  Bob's mom, uncle, sister & family, and my dad (mom had just left for a work trip to Denver, CO) were able to join us.

Before dinner, Bob and his mom worked on a bit of family history that he's been wanting to do for a while now.  I think they had a good time discussing their ancestors and Bob can't wait to find out more.

Our Easter dinner consisted of Ham, Seasoned Red Potatoes, a Pasta Salad, a Fruit Salad, an Olive/Pickle tray, Deviled Eggs, and Bread that the kids and I had shaped into an Easter Bunny and baked the night before.  I had meant to make a Green Bean Casserole but totally forgot.  Everything was delicious.

After cleaning up dinner a bit, we had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. (They had been playing in Mylie's costumes).  Aren't they cute?

They came inside and inspected their found eggs and candy.  Bob then had them do a scavenger hunt outside to find things pertaining to the REAL REASON for Easter.  He brought them back inside to explain to them the meaning of the things they found and then we watched an Easter video on LDS.org.
For dessert, we made Raspberry Pretzel Salad with some Easter sugar cookies for the kiddos.  It was a beautiful day and we were so grateful to be able to share it with family.

Easter Sunday & 3rd Egg Hunt

We had Easter Sunday dinner at the Ricks' house this year. I took Jello-O jigglers JellyBeans - in about 5 or 6 different flavors. Stephanie, Shane and Grandma Sara made some yummy food and we had a delicious dinner. The kids went outside for their cousins egg hunt. It was a cold, but beautiful day and they had a great time helping each other find eggs. We also watched a session of General Conference together. Thanks Steph and Shane for a fun day!

2nd Easter Egg Hunt

My Mom decided to do an Easter egg hunt for her grandkids. So Saturday night, before dinner, Savanah, Jayden, Braden, and Mylie got to have another egg hunt. They found fun eggs with funny faces on them and a special toy for each kid.

The 1st Egg Hunt

Braden was a great big brother to help his little sister find all the eggs.
Mylie would have been in cute jammies, but she fell asleep in her clothes the night before.

"Here you go, Mylie!"

Easter Morning 2010

The Easter Bunny brought the kids their baskets on Saturday morning. We didn't get any really great pictures, but you can see some of the fun things they got in these. They each got an outfit, a movie, a coloring book and some fun Easter treats.

Easter

Here are some pics of our Easter activities last weekend: We colored Easter eggs on Friday night. We had a spiderman themed kit that I got cheaply last year after Easter. Most of the things in it were pretty lame, so Braden grabbed a white crayon and we used that to draw pictures on most of the eggs before dipping them in the dye.
The Easter bunny decided to come to our house on Saturday morning. The kids woke up to find their baskets by the front door and eggs hidden all over the house. Mylie's basket was filled with new little hair clips, a baby pool, a turtle watering can and some baby food. She just liked the big basket!

Braden was so excited that "the bunny" decided to come a day early. His basket had 2 small sets of Star Wars Legos, a big chocolate bunny (krispy & not hollow - his favorite).

Here they are checking everything out. What cuties!

Braden had to be reminded to hunt for his easter eggs. They were filled with another of his favorite candies - Hershey's Mini's. He kept saying "Ohhh HERSHEYS!" over and over! Funny kid!

After finding the eggs, we went to my parent's house for an Easter breakfast with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and thier kids. Braden had fun playing with all the cousins, doing another Easter egg hunt (Grandma Johnson always puts quarters in the eggs she fills!), and participating in a little parade that one of the other cousins started.

When we got home, Grandma Sara was there to give the kids some Easter gifts. Braden commented that it was his "best day ever!"

That night, while I was helping Michaela sew some dance festival skirts, Bob took Braden to see Monsters Vs. Aliens at the IMax theater. They got to wear 3-D glasses and both thought that the movie was pretty cool.

We took pictures of the kids at my parent's house on Sunday after church. I love this pic of Mylie because it shows off her whole black & white outfit. I bought this dress at Children's place last year when I was still pregnant with her, but I bought the white sweater about a week ago because I wasn't sure how warm it was going to be and it worked out perfect.

Our cute kids!

Great Easter FHE idea for TONIGHT!

I've heard of this idea before, but re-discovered it today on one of my blog favs.

The Empty Tomb

Needed:

  • Large Marshmallows
  • Melted Butter
  • Cinnamon & Sugar Mix
  • Crescent Roll
  • Oven
  • Cavity in bun

Directions:

  1. Take a marshmallow. This represents Jesus.
  2. Dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming.
  3. Now dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar which represents the spices used to anoint the body.
  4. Then wrap up the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll up but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside.) This can either represent the wrapping of Jesus’ body after death or the Tomb. Matt. 27:57–61; John 19:38–42
  5. Place in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or as directed on the package of the crescent rolls. (The oven can represent the tomb if the roll is representing the wrapping—pretend like it was three days!) Take the role of the guards at Jesus’ tomb. Stand guard at the oven.
  6. Let the rolls cool slightly. Open your crescent rolls and discover that Jesus is no longer there, HE IS RISEN!!!! (The marshmallow melts and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty.)
  7. Jesus is Risen! Now read Matthew 28:5-8; Mark 16:4-8; Luke 24:1-6; John 20:1-18; Isaiah 25:8
What a great idea for tonight! I've got all the ingredients on hand except for the marshmallows , which I'm calling Bob right now, and having him pick up on his way home from work tonight.

Anyone have any other fun Easter ideas for the coming week?
