Bunny Bread
Easter Outfits and Baskets
I also have to mention, that while these pics were taken Sunday after church - at our house - the Easter Bunny comes on Saturday morning. This way the kids can enjoy their new things on the day they get them and focus on Christ on Easter Sunday.
Coloring Eggs
| The eggs! |
Braden and I found a tye-dye egg coloring kit at a thrift store this year, but it was pretty time consuming, so he and Mylie each only did 2-3 eggs that way. The rest were plain-old solid colors. They had a great time though, Mylie especially because she didn't remember doing it last year.
Easter 2011
Before dinner, Bob and his mom worked on a bit of family history that he's been wanting to do for a while now. I think they had a good time discussing their ancestors and Bob can't wait to find out more.
Our Easter dinner consisted of Ham, Seasoned Red Potatoes, a Pasta Salad, a Fruit Salad, an Olive/Pickle tray, Deviled Eggs, and Bread that the kids and I had shaped into an Easter Bunny and baked the night before. I had meant to make a Green Bean Casserole but totally forgot. Everything was delicious.
After cleaning up dinner a bit, we had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. (They had been playing in Mylie's costumes). Aren't they cute?

Easter
Braden was so excited that "the bunny" decided to come a day early. His basket had 2 small sets of Star Wars Legos, a big chocolate bunny (krispy & not hollow - his favorite).
Here they are checking everything out. What cuties!
Braden had to be reminded to hunt for his easter eggs. They were filled with another of his favorite candies - Hershey's Mini's. He kept saying "Ohhh HERSHEYS!" over and over! Funny kid!
After finding the eggs, we went to my parent's house for an Easter breakfast with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and thier kids. Braden had fun playing with all the cousins, doing another Easter egg hunt (Grandma Johnson always puts quarters in the eggs she fills!), and participating in a little parade that one of the other cousins started.
When we got home, Grandma Sara was there to give the kids some Easter gifts. Braden commented that it was his "best day ever!"
That night, while I was helping Michaela sew some dance festival skirts, Bob took Braden to see Monsters Vs. Aliens at the IMax theater. They got to wear 3-D glasses and both thought that the movie was pretty cool.
We took pictures of the kids at my parent's house on Sunday after church. I love this pic of Mylie because it shows off her whole black & white outfit. I bought this dress at Children's place last year when I was still pregnant with her, but I bought the white sweater about a week ago because I wasn't sure how warm it was going to be and it worked out perfect.

Great Easter FHE idea for TONIGHT!
The Empty Tomb
Needed:
- Large Marshmallows
- Melted Butter
- Cinnamon & Sugar Mix
- Crescent Roll
- Oven
- Cavity in bun
Directions:
- Take a marshmallow. This represents Jesus.
- Dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming.
- Now dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar which represents the spices used to anoint the body.
- Then wrap up the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll up but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside.) This can either represent the wrapping of Jesus’ body after death or the Tomb. Matt. 27:57–61; John 19:38–42
- Place in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or as directed on the package of the crescent rolls. (The oven can represent the tomb if the roll is representing the wrapping—pretend like it was three days!) Take the role of the guards at Jesus’ tomb. Stand guard at the oven.
- Let the rolls cool slightly. Open your crescent rolls and discover that Jesus is no longer there, HE IS RISEN!!!! (The marshmallow melts and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty.)
- Jesus is Risen! Now read Matthew 28:5-8; Mark 16:4-8; Luke 24:1-6; John 20:1-18; Isaiah 25:8
Anyone have any other fun Easter ideas for the coming week?
