Pumpkin Pizza
Trunk or Treat
Braden as Obi Wan Kenobi (but we think he looked more like a young Anakin Skywalker)
Mylie the Witch (the hat wouldn't stay on)
Our "trunk".
Bob took the kids around the parking lot once and then brought them back to help hand out candy.
We had a great time at our ward's Trunk or Treat this year. Since Halloween was on a Sunday I didn't want the kids to go trick or treating, so we were very glad that the ward had a trunk or treat Saturday night. I didn't get very good pics of the kids - they wouldn't hold still - they were too excited to start gathering yummy treats.

Halloween 2009
We went to Dan and Michaela's house this year for Halloween. We took Braden and Mylie trick or treating in their subdivision and then came back to their house for dinner, snacks, a game and then watched Hocus Pocus. What a fun night!
Yes, still catching up the blog...

High School Friends Halloween
I of course had to take a picture of the only decor that night (we forgot to get a picture of the 3 of us!). We had green kool-aid with gummy spiders and worms hanging out at the bottom, 2 different kinds of cupcakes, yummy spiderweb sugar cookies, scarecrow crunch, and chips (not pictured).
We talked and laughed and had a GREAT time!

Halloween RS Activity
Photos from the night - 1. the LOOT I came home with 2. just a piece of the fun halloween decor display 3. one of the napkin folding shapes we made - can you guess what this one is supposed to be?
Is that what it's called now? An RS Activity? Anyway...I just got home from a really fun one tonight! Each woman was asked to bring 40 of something to share. We were just told that we would be trick-or-treating from each other. I took TINY bags of 'autumn mix' (candy corns, candy pumpkin, and a carmel bite) and tied halloween colored ribbons through a hole in the top.
At the church, we gathered in the gym where tables were placed in a U-shape with 3 sisters to a table, sitting on the outside facing in. At the top of the "U" was a short table where our Enrichment(?) leader stood facing everyone. She started out with her treat to everyone: a paper bag, some ribbons, a flower and some cute stickers - turned into our trick or treating sack.
She then demonstrated some fun napkin folding techniques to us. We made a bat with a black napkin, a big flower using 2 napkins layered, and an elf. I *think* I might be able to replicate the bat. They were hard, but really fun!
Then we sat in our chairs and a few ladies at a time walked around the inside of the tables - trick-or-treating to all the ladies in the room. Some of the fun treats: decorating a halloween lunch sack, brownies, rice krispy treats, individual candies, a poem, a piece of fruit in a cup, a glow stick, a ghost sucker, quite a few mix type things with candy corn and popcorn or nuts. The RS president's treat was a RS list of names/phone numbers. Just fun and simple. Everyone was very gracious and had a fun time. The funniest one was a stash of fast food condiment packets: ketchup, hot sauce, etc.
We then moved into another room where the Enrichment(?) leader showed us how to make some fun holiday foods. She made a yummy dill/garlic chex mix, candied popcorn, jello "finger" molds - CREEPY!, and cornucopias made out of a waffle cone! She also talked about some fun holiday traditions - one was that each person in her family made individual pumpkin pies on Thanksgiving Eve and then ate them for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning. I'm sure there were a few fun others.
It was a great evening and EVERYONE really enjoyed it!
Oh and it was also optional to dress up - of course I didn't... but I was *I think* only one of 3 or 4 who didn't! Amazing!

Halloween Cuties
Braden - Buzz Lightyear "To The Rescue!"
My sweet Trick or TreatersThis year, we did our Ward's Trunk or Treat on Wednesday night. Mylie and I sat in the back of the Explorer and handed out candy while Bob and Braden went from car to car collecting candy. Braden got lots of comments on how COOL his costume was and I got asked more times than I care to count "How old is HE?" Guess my baby's going as a princess next year! I should have put a bow in her hair. Braden and Bob also went through a Haunted House thing set up inside one of the classrooms inside the church and it was reported to be "Scarrrryyy!" Afterward, we drove to Grammy and Papa's house to trick or treat. Mylie got a fun pink teething toy and Braden got the halloween bear in the first picture on Mylie's lap. Braden did not understand why we wouldn't let him then go out trick or treating around the neighboorhood 2 days early.
Friday night, we had a Pumpkin shaped pizza for dinner from Papa Murphy's. Then Bob took Braden trick or treating for about an hour. Then we headed over to Stephanie & Shane's house to watch the Garfield Halloween movie and have snacks. Grandma Sara was also there and gave Braden a Wall-E book and a Halloween treat bag. After the movie, Steph, Shane, Bob, Braden & Lily showed off their Wii Fit skills. I was pretty impressed. The Wii now definitely tops my Christmas list!

Last Minute Costume Change
For about 6 months, Braden insisted that he wanted to be Mickey Mouse for Halloween this year. Then, about a month and a half ago, Steven told him about a costume that would be really COOL. He told Braden all about how cool that a Bag of JellyBeans costume would be. So we got a plastic bag - big and clear. We planned on buying balloons to blow up and fill the bag with. Then we thought about what a PAIN the costume would be. It'd be great if Braden wanted to just walk to a few houses around the neighboorhood. But - not so great for going to the church's Trunk Or Treat, going to Daddy's work, and going to visit the grandparents.
So today while Braden and I were out running a few errands, we stopped in at the Disney Store where they just happened to have all boy's costumes 75% off! And we found the most adorable Buzz Lightyear costume for less than $10!!! And Braden loves it. Problem solved. This will be soooo much easier.

Pumpkin Patch
Braden had an IDVA school fieldtrip to the Linder Farms Pumpkin Patch last Friday. He decided to invite his cousin Savanah to come play with him. So we met Stephanie & Savanah there for some fall fun. They ran through the hay bale maze a few times, each picked out a pumpkin and rode on 2 hayrides. The sun was shining pretty brightly and made it pretty warm out so we didn't stay long.
