Bob's Toys

Bob has a "small" stash of Pixar toys at work.  He had a friend take these pics.  Mylie's favorite is Wall-E and she likes to ask her Dad, "How is Wall-E?" and likes to visit him every once in a while.  Other than these toys and his 2 computers, Bob keeps his office very open and clean.  I think because it's the one space he can completely control.  For a while he even had the front walls of his cubicle taken down, but he has since moved and the new space doesn't allow for it.

Brothers

2 of Bob's brothers, Scott and Aaron, both came to town over Christmas. Scott flew in from Colorado and Aaron flew in from California.
They got to meet Clark for the 1st time on Christmas Eve and again on Christmas Day.
Bob was able to spend some time talking and shopping with them, the Tuesday before Christmas and his mom brought them over to our house to visit in the evening on Christmas Day.

I think they forgot to send him the memo to wear black.

Wall-E

We've been collecting Disney Movie Rewards points and Bob decided to redeem them last month for a cardboard Wall-E. Cute isn't he.
To give you a better idea of his size - here he is on Bob's desk at work. HUGE!
Oh and he talks too.
And yes, he's a nerd. That's 2 computers (a Mac & a PC - with 2 screens) there on his desk.

Our 8th Anniversary!

Bob and I celebrated our 8th Anniversary yesterday. Crazy that we've been married for 8 years, it feels like it's been way longer than that though (In a good way!).
Bob was able to take the day off from work so that we could spend the entire day together.

Grandma Sara was kind enough to take the kids for us in the afternoon. Bob and I decided to spend the afternoon walking around downtown Boise. We ate lunch at Pollo Rey (yum!) and then walked to the Capital building to look around. We also stopped at 2 art galleries and were lucky enough to find the work of 2 people we know - hanging on the gallery walls. We were right around the corner from Ben and Jerry's and it just happened to be Free Cone day - so we stopped in for some very yummy ice cream. We walked around town a bit eating our ice cream and exploring. We walked through a few little shops and then headed to pick up the kids. They had a great time with Grandma, making fun art projects and eating yummy food.

We took the kids home where my Mom was ready to take them for the evening. She took them out into the backyard to play and we escaped again. We stopped first at Target and picked up The Bind Side (a really good movie that you must see if you haven't already!). Then we went to Best Buy and grabbed the re-released Toy Story 1 & 2 that came out that day. We had dinner at Olive Garden and then went to Edwards for a movie. We got home just after 10pm, to the kids in bed and a quiet house. It was a wonderful day!

Piano Players

After making the gingerbread houses, Bob decided to play a bit of piano for us. So he donned Aaron's hat and started playing around. Braden and Mylie eventually joined in, followed soon after by Violet. We love it when other people have such COOL toys!

Gingerbread Houses

On the evening of the 23rd, we headed over to the Ricks' house for our Annual Gingerbread house making.

A few pics of my cutie - very excited about all the candy in front of her!

Braden would like to eat it all in one bite!

Mylie sneaking a few pieces to put on the house she is building for daddy. Yeah right - they all mostly made their way into her mouth somehow.

She got to borrow this CUTE apron! Daddy is working on their gingerbread house.

Braden's house kept collapsing. We didn't have a lot of luck with them this year.

Bob and Mylie's house kept collapsing too. So they tried just building one out of stacked graham crackers. See the white on Mylie's face? She was sneaking some frosting to go with all her candy.

The stacked house wasn't turning out so well, so Bob decided to go with a sleigh.

We had a lot of fun laughing and creating together! Thanks Steph and Shane for a fun night!

Christmas Preparations

at my parent's house.
For some reason we didn't get any pictures of putting OUR tree up. We spent part of one Saturday over at my parents house helping out with their Christmas decorations. Braden helped Grammy decorate the tree and Bob put up the Christmas lights outside. And I'm sure Mylie and I did something...

Looking up at Daddy through the skylight!

Being oh-so-careful, Right???!!!

And Mylie wondering how she can get that door to open so she can escape to check on Daddy.

Editing to add: Whenever Braden sees a lot of Christmas decor, he comments that the person "Must be Christmas Rich!" Love it! The day we put up our Christmas decor, he told Bob that and he told his Grammy the same when we helped her put her decorations out.

*Braden's new dresser*

We decided a few months ago that Braden finally needed a real dresser - so we picked up this cheapy at the DI for $10. Grandpa Johnson helped Bob rebuild part of the inside and a piece of one of the drawers. Then it sat in our garage for over a month while we decided what to do with it.

We finally went to the store one day and picked up some supplies to get started. Bob and Braden removed the old wooden knobs, filled the holes and sanded it down with some fine sandpaper. (1st mistake - should have used a coarser sandpaper first, this thing was pretty beat up.) Then Bob used spray primer for the first coat. (2nd mistake - after distressing the dresser - the white shows now)

After letting that dry he used a couple of cans of black spray paint and coated the outside of the dresser and the fronts of the drawers. (Wish we would have bought a couple more cans to do the insides as well.) Then Bob measured and measured to get the perfect spot for adding our new handles and then drilled the holes. After drilling the holes he distressed the dresser with sandpaper on the edges and then used a keychain of allen wrenches to beat up the middle areas (which also helped to blend in the old knob holes which weren't quite hidden enough.)

He then sprayed the whole thing with a can of matte laquer and put in the pretty new handles.

This was a fun learning project for us as we are hoping to paint the "new to us" china hutch we got a few weeks ago from my parents. Now we know a few things not to do and a few things that we should have done for our next project.
